Grid Modernization

To support the New Era of Electrification, the electric power grid must be upgraded to integrate distributed energy resources (DERs) such as wind power, solar power, and battery energy storage, and to utilize new architectures such as microgrids and virtual power plants. These changes are driving demand for more capable and efficient power converters and transformers to convert DC power from DERs to the AC power used by the grid and most grid-connected facilities, and to recharge batteries by converting grid AC power back to DC.
